Work has begun! So far, progress is coming along fast. As with any game, everything we're working on now is likely to change before the game is released, but we have a few of our proof-of-concepts in place.
Here, you can see the simple planting interface. Obviously, the scale of everything is a mess, but it works! This was a few hours of work, and I'm really happy with the progress so far.

After I got this working, I wanted to clean up some of the interface. I zoomed the field in, and started scaffolding a few more features. Now, we have an actual inventory interface, that keeps track of your seeds, and the Crop HUD was move to the bottom of the screen. Also, I began working on an "Almanac".
